Players involved in match-fixing, bookies should be hanged: Miandad

May 6, 2020 09:14 PM

Pakistan former captain Javed Miandad on Wednesday said that match fixers and bookies should be hanged so that no one could ever think about this crime.

The former great batsman said that cricketers took money to sell their country’s honour in the past. But they escaped because of the weak laws. The players involved in match-fixing lost their fans and even family members.

He demanded Prime Minister Imran Khan to form a law under which no can dare to do this crime again. He said this would only be done when honest people would be included in the system. He said he played cricket with great Imran Khan and he knew him. He said Imran Khan did not compromise on match fixing.

Javed Miandad said he left the Pakistan Cricket team as coach because he knew that there was something wrong in the setup. He advocated strict punishments for players who found guilty of match-fixing, spot fixing and other corruption offences.
