Police have arrested three eunuchs and a male in connection with the alleged ransacking of a police station by the members of the transgender community at Kharian Saddar on Sunday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
The eunuchs, who have been taken into custody, were Hira, Babli and Ilyas Babl, while Sajjad was the only man who was arrested.
Earlier, the police registered an FIR against seven identified and 20 unidentified eunuchs under seven sections related to different offences, including those related to vandalism.
On the other hand, two police personnel have been suspended who were found guilty in the light of an inquiry report.
A case has also been registered against these personnel.
DPO Kharian has said that nobody will be allowed to take the law into his own hands. “Those bringing a bad name to the department deserve no leniency,” he has said.
It all started when cops manning a check-post late Saturday night stopped a eunuch named Hira for checking and snatched a gold chain from him.
And when he demanded that the chain be returned to him, the policemen detained him and started torturing him.
The injured eunuch was shifted to Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Hospital.
This led to a protest by the members of the transgender community.
And although only a few hours after the incident, both the parties agreed to a patch-up following intervention by the police officials, a group of eunuchs from Gujranwala stormed the police station at 8:00 in the morning and threw the furniture out of the station.
