Caretaker Federal Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Gohar Tjaz Tuesday unveiled the immense potential for a $50 billion trade partnership with Central Asian nations, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Dr. Ijaz's statement comes as Pakistan makes significant strides in bolstering its economic ties with Uzbekistan, marking a momentous occasion during Uzbekistan's Independence Day ceremony.
Addressing the gathering at the celebration, Dr. Gohar Ijaz reiterated the commitment to enhance bilateral trade between Pakistan and Uzbekistan, with a specific target of reaching $1 billion this year. Over the past four years, both nations have made remarkable progress in revitalizing their trade relations, culminating in the current bilateral trade volume of $126.05 million.
Dr. Ijaz further stressed the importance of adopting Uzbekistan's revolutionary approach to agricultural development as a blueprint for progress. He extended his heartfelt congratulations to the people of Uzbekistan on their Independence Day, underlining the significance of strong diplomatic ties.
During the event, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan warmly welcomed Dr. Gohar Ijaz's vision and efforts to strengthen the relations between the two countries. In a symbolic gesture of goodwill, Dr. Ijaz, alongside the Uzbek Ambassador, cut a ceremonial cake, signifying the strengthening bond between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
