The federal government is considering the names of four senior officers for the appointment new chief secretary of Punjab, reported 24NewsHd TV channel on Sunday.
As per the official sources, four officers including Babar Hayat Tarar, Abdullah Khan Sumbal, Capt (r) Asadullah Khan and Shehryar Sultan are in race for the chief secretary of Punjab.
It is also learnt that the federal government has decided not to appoint the chief secretary as per the choice of the Punjab government.
Earlier, Punjab Chief Secretary Kamran Ali Afzal had declined to work with the new Punjab government, informing the Establishment Division secretary about his decision.
In a letter, he said that his personal matters had led him to quit as chief secretary. “Therefore, I cannot continue to serve in the same capacity with the new Punjab government,” he had said in his letter.
