The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday reserved the verdict on the application against the film Joyland, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The SHC heard the arguments on the application against the film.

The complainant argued that the film Joyland promotes homosexuality which is forbidden in Islam.

He maintained that Article 19A of the Constitution about freedom of expression has some boundaries and limitations.

He said Islamic traditions can’t be violated.

The mover named Sumaira Muhammadi said that the Council of Islamic Interests (CII) and Mufti Taqi Usmani also gave statements against the

film.

The applicant claimed that the film tried to create sympathy for transgender.

The complainant claimed that Transgender Act has been challenged in the Supreme Court and the case is pending before the apex court.

In the opinion of the complainant, prompting transgenderism is against the Constitution till the legal and constitutional explanation on the rights of the transgender.

Earlier, the Sindh High Court (SHC) stands firm in its decision in favour of the award-winning film’s release. It recently rejected a petition against the release of Joyland as “inadmissible.”
