The Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB) has changed its policy and stopped the publishers to submit their book drafts for approval.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the board has decided now that the internal committee will review the texts of the books.
The board on Monday also decided to form a new internal reviews committee as the external review committees set up to approve drafts of books were dissolved on the reservations of the publishers.
Publishers have been barred from submitting drafts to committees of experts for approval. The textbook board will now approve drafts of books from internal review committees.
The external review committees were charging publishers a fee of up to Rs100,000.
Draft books will be approved by internal review committees after which publishers will be allowed to publish books.
The Board officials said that external review committees were formed for one year. Four external review committees were formed for the approval of the book of each article which has now been stopped from functioning, said the officials.
