Punjab LG Department issues ‘financial guideline’ for inactive district councils

Punjab Local Government Department on Monday issued financial guidelines for 46 Local Governments in accordance with the 2021 Ordinance as accounts of inactive district councils and corporations will be restored
The Punjab local government department handed over the authority of bank accounts to the concerned officers, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Guidelines have been issued to administrators and chief officers as union councils will remain active until Village Councils and Neighborhood Councils are formed.
Bank accounts of Metropolitan Corporation Lahore have been restored.
The Chief Officers, MO Finance and Local Fund Audit will be authorized to operate the accounts of the Metropolitan Corporations.
The Chief Officers, District Officer Finance will be responsible for operating the accounts of the District Councils.
Income, Receipt, shares from PF, UIP Tax Shares, and Contract Recovery have been restored as per Local Government New Accounts.
Daily Expenditure, Non-Development Fund Approval to be integrated into Current Budget.
According to the letter, instructions have been given to the local governments to prepare the budget from January 28 to June 30 under the new Local Government Ordinance 2021.
Secretary Local Government Punjab Dr Naeem Rauf has issued a letter to the officers regarding the responsibility of accounts.
