Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja will receive a monthly pension of Rs 154,000 as a former test cricketer, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Saturday.

Ramiz Raja has requested the PCB to grant him a monthly pension under the PCB players’ welfare policy, as he had crossed the age of 60.

Accepting the request, PCB has been asked to sign a code of conduct of PCB. On Saturday, Ramiz Raja signed a code of conduct which is a condition to become eligible for the pension. Now, Ramiz will receive a monthly pension of Rs 15,400 from January 1.

According to the new policy of PCB, the cricketers who have played in 10 or less Tests will receive a monthly pension of Rs 142,000, players who have played between 11 and 20 Tests will receive Rs 148,000, and players who have featured in 21 or more Tests will receive RS 154,000.

Ramiz Raja falls in the last category who played 99 tests from 1984 to 1997.

Interestingly, after signing the code of conduct, Ramiz Raja will not be able to criticize the board. Under that code of conduct, the cricketer is bound not to criticize the PCB in the media.

Pertinent to note, Sarfaraz Nawaz, another former Test cricketer, who has been a vocal critic of the PCB in the media, is also in a court of law as the PCB has not paid his pension for five years.
