The bail plea of PTI founder Imran Khan in six cases and his wife Bushra Bibi in one case was adjourned after jail authorities failed to present Imran Khan via video link, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.
Islamabad District and Sessions Court's Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka postponed the hearing until January 28, directing the authorities to ensure Khan’s appearance at the next hearing.
Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi face charges in multiple cases registered in 2023, including allegations of arson, vandalism, and attempted murder at police stations in Kohsar, Ramna, Tarnol, Karachi Company, and Secretariat.
The court has reserved its verdict on Bushra Bibi’s bail plea, while arguments on Imran Khan’s bail applications were concluded, according to his lawyer Khalid Yousaf, who spoke to the media after the hearing.
Khalid Yousaf stated, “Our partial arguments have been completed, but the jail authorities’ failure to present Imran Khan via video link has delayed the decision.”
The lawyer added that Imran Khan’s attendance via video link had been consistent in the past. He expressed hope that the court’s directive for January 28 would ensure attendance, allowing for a decision on the bail applications.
“These bail applications were filed before the arrest of the PTI chairman,” Khalid Yousaf said. “They were initially dismissed but later reinstated by the Islamabad High Court (IHC). This is the final stage for these six pre-arrest bail applications for Imran Khan, and a decision is awaited.”
