Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated a new health clinic during a ceremony in Lahore on Tuesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
During the speech, she appreciated her team's dedication to public service and said that providing quality healthcare is a fundamental right of the people. "She also reaffirmed her commitment to addressing health sector challenges in the province."
Maryam Nawaz expressed satisfaction with recent initiatives, highlighting the availability of insulin in hospitals and the resumption of free medicine distribution for the public.
“Our population has increased, and with it, the challenges have multiplied,” she noted.
To tackle these, she announced the establishment of complaint resolution desks in hospitals and the introduction of mobile health units to alleviate the burden on existing facilities.
The Chief Minister acknowledged the pivotal role of young doctors in improving healthcare and expressed her determination to address gaps in medical services.
“Healthcare facilities in Punjab are insufficient. It keeps me awake at night,” she remarked.
Maryam Nawaz shared insights from her interactions with Chinese officials, pointing out stark contrasts in healthcare administration.
She revealed her curiosity about how China prevents the theft of medicines, only to be surprised that such issues are virtually non-existent in China.
