Former President Rafiq Tarar passed away in Lahore, reported 24News HD TV channel on Monday.

Funeral prayers of former President Rafiq Tarar, was offered at Jamia Ashrafia, Lahore. A large number of political leaders, friends, and family members attended his funeral prayers.

Chairman Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Rana Tanveer Hussain, Rana Shamim and PML-Q leader Chaudhry Salik Hussain attended the funeral prayer.

Funeral prayers were attended by Saif ul Malook Khokhar, Rana Mubashir Iqbal, Ghazali Saleem Butt, Pir Ashraf Rasool, Chaudhry Shahbaz Ahmed, Malik Sohaib Ahmad Bherth, Bilal Farooq Tarar, Ahmad Ali Aulakh, Bilal Akbar Khan, Muhammad Mansha Ullah Butt, Samiullah Chaudhry, Yaseen Sohal, Mian Abdul Rauf, Mian Imran Javed, Irfan Daultana, Ghulam Raza, Barrister Haris Sohal, Naveed Ahmed, and Ahad Khan Cheema.

Earlier Political figures and state officials expressed grief over the sad demise of former president Muhammad Rafiq Tarar and prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) tweeted: “General Qamar Javed Bajwa, COAS, expresses heartfelt condolences on the sad demise of former President of Pakistan Muhammad Rafiq Tarar. May Allah bless his soul & give strength to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss, Ameen.”

Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif also expressed grief over the demise of the former president and tweeted: “He with his wisdom, foresightedness, and tolerance always played a key role in resolving matters. His death is a personal trauma. His absence will always be felt. May Allah Almighty grant patience to his family and friends, Ameen.”

Punjab Governor Ch Sarwar also expressed condolences over the demise of the former president and said that his services would always be remembered. The governor prayed for the rest of his soul in peace and also for the elevation of his ranks in Jannah.

Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Shehbaz Sharif also expressed deep condolences and grief over the death of the former president. He said that Rafiq Tarar was a very friendly and good-natured person, and he was a true Pakistani. “His death is a personal trauma for us. With his demise, the PML-N has lost a great asset to party and a senior leader. May Allah Almighty grant him higher place in Jannah.”
