Scotland’s first minister, PM mull over measures to cement Pak-Scottish ties

First Minister of Scotland Hamza Yusuf met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in London, 24NewsHD TV channel reports.
Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Hamza Yusuf on assuming the important post and expressed his best wishes to him. He said Yusuf's election highlighted the important and positive role of the British Pakistani community in Scotland and the United Kingdom.
The two leaders agreed to further strengthen the historic ties between Pakistan and Scotland. This includes cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, education, water resources, alternative energy and people-to-people links on both sides.
They agreed to work collaboratively to promote joint ventures in education, skills and renewable resources, and the role of Pakistani businessmen in Scotland to promote investment in Pakistan. They expressed vowed to cement bilateral ties to tackle the challenge of climate change. In this regard, the proposal to hold an investment conference in Scotland and to organize a separate road show to showcase Pakistan's renewable energy potential in Scotland was also considered.
The PM thanked the Scottish government for its generous support and assistance during last year's devastating floods and he invited Yusuf to visit Pakistan, which he accepted. The 37-year-old of Pakistani origin became the First Minister of Scotland in March. He became a member of the Scottish Parliament for the first time in 2011 at the age of 26.
