The Lahore High Court's three-member larger bench Friday issued notices to the Punjab government and other relevant parties in a case concerning the police station record management system, scheduling the next hearing for September 11, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The bench, headed by Chief Justice Alia Neelum, included Justice Farooq Haider and Justice Ali Zia Bajwa.

During the hearing, law officers representing the federal and Punjab governments, along with officials from the Punjab Information Technology Board and MD Safe City Authority, were present in the courtroom. DIG Ahsan Yunus, DIG Legal Awais Malik, and other officers also attended.

The case revolves around concerns regarding the digitization of police records. Justice Ali Zia Bajwa emphasized the risk of digital records being tampered with, noting that previous court rulings had addressed similar issues.

He highlighted that as terrorism cases increased, police were granted access to sensitive information, leading to incidents where constables allegedly sold call data records (CDRs) and personal information for as little as Rs. 50 to Rs. 100.

The bench directed all parties to come fully prepared with relevant data at the next hearing and adjourned the case until September 11.
