Federal Cabinet okays SCO sponsored university in Pakistan

The Federal Cabinet has approved the establishment of a university with the help of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The SCO’s eight members including Russia, China, and India gave their consent to establish a university in Pakistan in its recent meeting.
The sources said that the approval was taken from the federal cabinet through the circulation of the summary presented by the Federal Ministry of Education.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs handed over the agreement for the establishment and operation of SCO University to the Ministry of Education.
Scientific and technological cooperation will be given promotion through an online consortium among member states.
A series of joint training of high-level professionals will be started in specific areas after the establishment of the varsity.
In 2006, it was decided to establish the university in light of the inter-governmental agreement. Joint training will also be started with Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan.
Necessary steps will be taken for India's inclusion in the online consortium, the sources added.
