Punjab government raises subsidy on transport

The Punjab government has increased a one-day subsidy on city-run public transport in Lahore up to Rs 34.2 million, reported City42 TV channel on Tuesday.

City42 reported the latest details of the government’s subsidy granted on public transport that in Lahore, the subsidy on public transport has reached Rs 13 billion.

Over Rs 18 billion subsidies has been provided annually on transport across the province including annual subsidy of Rs. 13.91 billion on operation and maintenance of public transport, the TV channel reported.

Punjab government has been providing Rs. 88.22 crore annual subsidies on security of public transport and annual subsidy of Rs 1.79 billion is being provided for the service of automatic fares of public transport, the TV channel reported.
