The coronavirus pandemic has affected the bureaucracy like every other sector in Pakistan.

As a result, a meeting of the highest bureaucratic forum, Federal Secretaries’ Committee, has been pending for the last two months.

In consequence, there has been no progress on the critical issues facing employees of the federal government. Issues like pay raise, civil structure, rules and regulations, change of cadre, financial powers for official purchase and civil service matters have been pending for months now because the committee has not met for two months because of the coronavirus outbreak in the country.
