Justice Muhammad Waheed Khan of Multan Bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday ordered the immediate release of PTI leader Zartaj Gul, who had been put under house arrest by the authorities on October 5 as a part of an extensive crackdown on the party leaders and workers to prevent their march on Islamabad to participate in a protest demonstration, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In his petition, filed through Advocate Rana Asif Saeed and other lawyers, Zartaj’s husband said that on October 5 the police violated the privacy of his home and arrested his wife. “My wife was not even allowed to wear a dupatta and shoes and was later put under a house arrest for 30 days on the orders of the deputy commissioner (DC) Dera Ghazi Khan under the 3 Maintenance of Public Order (MPO),” he said in his plea.
He prayed to the court to declare the house arrest orders by the DC null and void.
