Gohar Ejaz Foundation announces free medicine to OPD patients in Jinnah Hospital

Gohar Ejaz Foundation (GEF) has started a revolutionary project to provide free medicines to the patients in OPD of Jinnah Hospital, reported 24News HD TV Channel on Friday.
The Board of Management of the GEF Chairman Dr Gohar Ejaz held a press conference with Novartis Pharma representative Shahzad Farooq, Allama Iqbal Medical College (AIMC) Principal Professor Nadeem Hafeez Butt.
Dr Gohar Ejaz said that Gohar Ejaz Foundation in collaboration with Novartis will provide annually free medicines of Rs one billion for 30 diseases including cancer, cardiac diseases, and diabetes.
He said that 7,000 patients visit the 1,600-bed Jinnah Hospital every day, and it is their mission to provide state-of-the-art treatment to them.
Gohar Ejaz said Jinnah Hospital is also providing food for 10,000 patients and their attendants daily along with treatment while a rest house with a capacity of 300 people has been constructed for the caretakers of the patients in the hospital.
He said the international standard operation theatres and hospital management information system have been introduced in Jinnah Hospital.
Dr Gohar Ejaz assured that in view of the increase in the number of patients, the funds for the provision of free medicines will be increased to Rs3 billion in the next two years and patients will get medicines under a fully computerized system.
Novartis Pharma representative in Pakistan Shahzad Farooq said it is an honor to be with the Gohar Ejaz Foundation in the great work of serving the suffering humanity.
AIMC Principal Professor Nadeem Hafeez Butt termed the provision of free medicines in the OPD of Jinnah Hospital as a revolutionary step and paid tribute to Gohar Ejaz Foundation.
Gohar Ejaz said that the provision of free medicines will be formally inaugurated on December 13. He also visited the hospital along with the AIMC principal.
