Punjab govt launches first livestock card, farmer guidance app

First ‘Punjab Livestock Card’ and first ‘Farmer Guidance App’ in the history of Pakistan have been launched in Punjab, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired a meeting on Livestock and gave approval of important projects.
The Chief Minister gave approval of Punjab Livestock Card project under which Rs250,000 interest-free loan will be available for cattle feed.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed to ease the steps of obtaining loans for livestock farmers.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif further directed to prepare a scheme for farmers for dairy farming in South Punjab.
During the meeting, Chief Minister was given a briefing in which she was told that provision of loans in easy installments for male and female dairy farmers residing in rural areas of South Punjab will be reviewed.
As many as 40000 farmers across Punjab will be given loans through Punjab Livestock Card.
Under the Livestock Card, as many as 400,000 animals will be available for meat.
An easy loan of Rs270,000 will be given to the farmers through Punjab Livestock Farm for purchase of Wanda, silage and mineral mixer.
Through the Punjab Livestock Card, the farmer will be able to pay the loan in 30 days.
Animal identity traceability system in Punjab will facilitate the maintenance of livestock. Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, Provincial Minister of Agriculture Syed Ashiq Hussain, Special Assistant Rashid Nasrullah, Chief Secretary Zahidakhtar Zaman, Secretary Livestock and other officials attended the meeting.
