Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said those who attack martyrs' memorials deserve severe punishment, 24NewsHD TV channel reported.

“I broke into tears after meeting the families of martyrs, she said while addressing a special ceremony at Jinnah House in Lahore on Thursday.

She said the state came under attack on May 9 last– the darkest day in the history of Pakistan.

She added: “Jinnah’s memorial was attacked, leaving a pile of ashes.

“I have seen today that terrorists do not have hearts.  A political party can’t do this.

I think it was a terrorist group. 3-4 months of planning was done.

“The attackers were trained by terrorists.

She continued:"Even terrorists could not do what they did last year."

“We are told to talk to them. Why should we talk? They are terrorists, we don't talk to terrorists.

"They are reaping what they have sown.

In her message earlier, she said the nation will neither forget nor forgive the May 9 perpetrators.

“It is necessary to bring the plotters against Pakistan to justice.”
