Pakistan provides 65,000 ‘green-jobs’ to youth

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday accorded go-ahead for launching “Protected Area Initiative” under the umbrella of “Green Pakistan” program that will provide jobs to 65,000 youth/daily wagers to work for establishment of 12 national parks with aim to preserve and protect wildlife and plantations across the country.
The program has twin targets, first to establish 12 green national parks across the country while secondly, it will provide the 65,000 jobs to the youth/daily wagers who are facing unemployment due to COVID-19.

“During the meeting, Prime Minister accorded go-ahead for launching “Protected Area Initiative” in the country under the umbrella of “Green Pakistan” program. It will involve the establishment of 12 national parks in the country with an aim to preserve & protect wildlife & plantations.”
According to PMO, the Prime Minister directed that all the provinces be taken on-board for this initiative at the highest level i.e. Chief Ministers.
PM further emphasized that such initiatives provide employment opportunities in wake of COVID-19 pandemic while at the same time protect the natural resources of the country.
Prime Minister will launch the “Protected Area Initiative” soon after Ministry of Climate Change completes the process of stake-holders consultation.
