The Centre had become a hurdle in the import of coronavirus testing kits by Sindh, as it refused to allow cargo flights for the purpose, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.

Despite the alarming situation in the country, the Sindh government’s testing kits orders are waiting for delivery in China and the UK. Meanwhile, the Centre had also not fulfilled its responsibility of providing the required testing kits to the province.

In a series of tweets, PPP leader Senator Sherry Rehman said although Sindh had done a great job, the province required testing kits and equipment to keep fighting the coronavirus. “Still waiting on Islamabad,” she added.

The PPP senator warned about a serious crisis in the absence of testing kits, as she said that Sindh did not receive any functional testing kits despite the announcements made by the federal government.

Mentioning that there were no cargo flights to pick up orders from the abroad, Sherry asked the Centre to coordinate the coronavirus test kits import with the provinces.
