Imran Khan's illegal nikkah case: Govt transfers Prosecutor Rana Hassan Abbas as punishment

Over the issue of stating the illegal nikkah case of former premier Imran Khan on media yesterday, the government removed Prosecutor Rana Hassan Abbas from the case and transferred him to another court with immediate effect, 24News HD TV channel reported on Wednesday.
According to the channel, the notification of the transfer of Prosecutor Rana Hassan Abbas, who argued in the appeal filed against the sentence in the 'illegal marriage' case has also been issued.
As per the notification, the services of Prosecutor Rana Hassan Abbas were transferred to narcotics cases while Prosecutor Adnan Ali has been appointed in the court of Sessions Judge Shahrukh Arjumand in place of Rana Hassan Abbas to handle the case.
In a letter regarding the transfer of Prosecutor Rana Hassan Abbas, the District Prosecutor said, "You have issued statements related to cases on media channels without permission so you are immediately prevented from appearing in the court. Prosecutor Rana Hassan Abbas was also advised that he should delete all content from his social media forums and report in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Sikandar Khan.
It is worth mentioning that Prosecutor Rana Hassan Abbas gave arguments on the appeal filed in the illegal marriage case yesterday. Earlier, he successfully prosecuted Sara Inam and Noor Muqqadam murder cases.
Ranahassan Abbas was working as a prosecutor with Sessions Judge East since April 2022.
