In a bid to curb the menace of drug abuse in the capital, Islamabad Police have intensified its anti-narcotics operations and awareness campaign on the directives of Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar and Caretaker Federal Interior Minister Sarfaraz Ahmed Bugti.


According to a spokesperson of Islamabad Capital Police, 37 drug peddlers were nabbed and 37 cases were lodged against them in the last week. The police also seized 27 kg of various drugs from their possession.


The spokesperson said that the police were also conducting a special awareness campaign against drugs in educational institutions and had delivered lectures in 2 universities, 4 colleges and 74 schools in a week.


The police were also using social and digital media platforms to spread awareness messages and videos about the harmful effects of drugs.


The spokesperson appealed to the public to cooperate with the police in this noble cause and report any suspicious activity on Call 15 or the ICT 15 app.


He also urged the parents to educate their children about the dangers of drugs and keep a close watch on them. He said that Islamabad Police were committed to making the city drug-free and safe for all.
