A gas explosion in a coal mine near Sanjdi, a suburban area of Quetta, has left 11 miners trapped, while one miner's body has been recovered.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel report, the coal mine explosion occurred 18 hours ago, trapping 12 miners underground.

Chief Mines Inspector Abdul Ghani confirmed that the rescue operation is ongoing and all necessary steps are being taken to save the trapped workers. He assured that the miners would soon be brought out safely.

Rescue teams, including Levies personnel, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), and the local administration, are actively working to free the workers.

According to the Chief Inspector Mines, debris blocking the mine's route has been cleared, and power restoration is underway to facilitate further rescue efforts.

Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind stated that the explosion was caused by gas buildup inside the mine.

Meanwhile, labour leader Lal Sultan raised concerns, warning that delays in the rescue operation could endanger the lives of the trapped miners.
