Dollar, euro, pound crush rupee after huge gains

The rupee further weakened as the three top currencies of the world – dollar, euro and pound sterling – made significant gains against the local currency in inter-bank rate on Wednesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

During the day, the dollar reached the level of Rs164.55 after a gain of 22 paisas, which means the greenback is up by Rs1.25 during the last three sessions [the first three days of the week]. Earlier, it had gained 71 paisas on Tuesday and 32 paisas on Monday.

But the best performance came from the pound which closed the day at Rs210.21 after a gain of Rs2.27, while the euro was sold at Rs187.13 after a gain of Rs2.15.

During the previous rally spread over four business days, the dollar was up by Rs3.97. However, the rupee had reduced the difference by Rs1.59 during the last three days of the previous business week.
