Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ghulam Mehmood Dogar Thursday wrote an application to the Punjab inspector general of police (IGP) seeking his help to stop his transfer, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In his application to the IGP, the CCPO said that due to some domestic compulsions and personal reasons, it was necessary for him to stay in Lahore.
He told the IGP that the federal government had issued his suspension orders after transferring him, demanding that the IGP send a letter to the Establishment Division to stop the orders.
However, the IG office did not respond to the request.
It is to be noted here that the Punjab government had recommended the name of Ghulam Mehmood Dogar for the post of the IGP despite his suspension.
Lahore police without CCPO for six days
There is no legal head of Lahore police for six days.
Ghulam Mehmood Dogar has been suspended as the CCPO by the Establishment Division, but he has not left the charge.
As he has not left the charge, no other officer could be appointed in his place or given the additional charge.
Senior police officers have criticised the act of the CCPO for not leaving the office despite being suspended.
Without a chief, the working of Lahore police has been severely affected.
On the other hand, the CCPO continues to enjoy the official protocol, house and office.
