IMF rep in Pakistan acknowledges improvement in country’s economy

Praising the efforts being made by the government since 2023 to strengthen Pakistan’s economy, Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to Pakistan Miss Esther Perez Ruiz on Thursday acknowledged that the country’s economic situation was gradually improving, which should not be underestimated, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Speaking at a function at the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI), she said that maintaining a balance between micro and macro-financial stability was a challenge.
Esther said that the standby arrangement of 2023 had strengthened the Fund’s resolve to support Pakistan.
She said that a marked drop in the inflation rate had been noticed.
Similarly, she said, an increase in reserves in 2023 as well as a reduction in the policy rate of the State Bank of Pakistan’s (SBP) had a positive impact on the country’s economy.
