Another good news for Pakistan in the field of science as following the successful launch of ICUBE Qamar, Pakistan will release another satellite into space on May 30, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
The satellite, which will be sent jointly by the SUPARCO and the National Space Agency, will help form the latest communication system.
It has the capability to meet the growing demands of the telecom sector in the country as it will improve internet services in the country.
Three days ago, Pakistan’s first lunar mission, ICUBE Qamar had successfully entered the moon’s orbit.
Dr Khurram Khurshid, a member of the core team at the Institute of Space Technology (IST), said the orbiter was successfully deployed in lunar orbit on 8th May at 1:14pm PST, terming the development “a great success overall”.
The ICUBE Qamar was launched on board China’s Chang’e-6 from Hainan, China, on May 3.
Before the launch of the satellite last week, Dr Khurram had said that the satellite will reach the lunar orbit in five days and will circle around the moon for three to six months.
He added that the satellite would take pictures of the surface of the moon after which Pakistan will have its own satellite images of the moon for research.
The satellite was designed and developed by the Islamabad-based Institute of Space Technology (IST) in collaboration with China’s Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and Pakistan’s national space agency SUPARCO.
