Sections of motorway closed as fog engulfs Punjab, Sindh cities

Different sections of the motorway were closed for traffic as fog blanketed several cities of Punjab and Sindh and their surroundings early Tuesday morning, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Spokesman for the Motorway Police (MP) Syed Imran Ahmad said that M 2 from Lahore to Hiran Minar, M 3 from Faizpur to Summandri, M 4 from Gojra to Faisalabad, M 5 from Sher Shah to Rohri and section of the motorway from Lahore to Sialkot were closed as fog reduced visibility on roads considerably.
The spokesman further said that motorways had to be closed in order to ensure the safety of motorists.
He advised people to avoid travelling unnecessarily or if it was inevitable, turn the fog lights of their vehicles on. “Also drive at a slow pace and don’t forget to keep distance while driving,” he counselled.
He said that in case of emergency road users could dial the helpline number 130.
