Former president and PTI stalwart Dr Arif Alvi said on Thursday that it was good if former spymaster General (r) Faiz Hameed was undergoing a military trial for allegedly participating in political activities, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Speaking to media men in Karachi, he said he had always believed that dialogue was the only way out of a deadlock. “And now if there has been progress on this front, it is a good development,” he added.
The former president said he was ready to play his role to bring stability to the country. “I can even sacrifice my life for the purpose.”
SHC orders FIA not to arrest Alvi
Earlier, the Sindh High Court (SHC), during the hearing of the case related to seeking details of the FIRs lodged against the former president, ordered that Alvi be not arrested in any case until December 19.
The court also barred the FIA from arresting the plaintiff in any case.
The former president told Justice Adnan Karim he had fears he might be arrested and shifted to another province.
Justice KK Agha said the court could not give such an order. “After all, you are a former president. How you can be shifted to another province.”
Alvi said, still he had fears since one of the former prime ministers had been kept in jail in a pathetic condition.
The court sought a report from the inspector general of Police and the prosecutor general of Sindh on how many FIRs had been registered against the PTI stalwart in Sindh.
Justice Karim said that the former president should not be arrested in any case, while Justice Agha ordered that he should not be arrested in cases registered with mala fide intent. “If the court finds out that cases were registered against him with a bad intention, it will throw them out.”
