Stampede at Syria's historic mosque claims 4 lives, 16 injured

A tragic stampede at the historic Umayyad Mosque in Damascus claimed the lives of four people and left 16 others injured, including five children, reported local authorities.

The Governor of Damascus, Mahr Marwan, stated that investigations are underway to determine the causes of the incident. 

“The responsible individuals will be held accountable,” he assured while addressing the media.

The incident has raised concerns about safety measures at public venues. Officials have pledged to implement effective steps to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

Eyewitnesses described the chaotic scene at the mosque, a landmark known for its historical and religious significance.
