Two people were shot dead in a clash between rival communities in the Rangpur area of Punjab on Monday night, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

The armed clash between Lak and Ambrana communities took place at Chiragh Bela last night in which both sides used automatic weapons indiscriminately against each other.

The bullets fired left two people dead and four injured on both sides. The wounded have referred to Nishtar Hospital in Multan.

The slain were identified as Abdul Hameed and Mujahid Lak while the wounded were Ali Sher, Alam Sher, Muhammad Amjad and Waseem. Their condition is said to be serious.

The members of the Lak community had a grudge against Ambrana community for alerting the police about proclaimed offender Mujahid Lak.

Mujahid Lak had already been declared a fugitive from the law for murdering ASI Hussain.
