Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Chief Minister (CM) Khalid Khurshid rejected the federal budget statement of the Shehbaz-led government and complained that the budget of his legislative area is reduced.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid along with PTI leaders Ali Amin Gandapur and Murad Saeed addressed a press conference on Sunday.
The GB CM said that the entire development package of Gilgit has been blown up by the federal government in the budget 2022-23.
He said that the development budget of Gilgit was Rs 36 billion last year, adding that the federal government cut the Gilgit budget by 50 per cent.
Khalid Khurshid said if they were included in the National Finance Commission (NFC) then his region’s budget would be Rs137 billion.
The CM of GB also lodged a complaint that Gilgit-Baltistan is not getting electricity so they have no other choice but to protest.
Murad Saeed said in the imported government, that there was a storm of inflation in the country. He said despite inflation, the budget of GB has been cut by 50 per cent.
Ali Amin Gandapur said that no project can be completed in the funds given to GB from the federal government in the proposed budget for fiscal 2022-23.
The PTI leaders said that their party was with the locals to get the right of GB.
