The parliamentary party meeting of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) has outlined a strategy to register protests during the budget speech and to demand the release of former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the PTI-backed SIC's parliamentary party meeting was held at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) House in Islamabad two hours before the presentation of the national budget for the next financial year, 2024-25 on Wednesday.

Sources from the PTI-backed SIC stated that opposition members planned to surround the dais during the budget speech of Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and tear copies of the budget statement for the fiscal year 2024-25.

As per the parliamentary party's decision, all SIC members will go to the house holding photos of PTI founder chairman Imran Khan and will raise slogans for his release.

The SIC parliamentary party meeting also decided that Shahid Khattak, Jamshed Dasti, and Iqbal Afridi would lead the protest in the National Assembly.

Senior party leaders Hamid Raza, Omar Ayub, Barrister Gohar, Jamshed Dasti, Amir Dogar, Ali Muhammad, Iqbal Afridi, Asad Qaiser, Zartaj Gul, Sheikh Waqas, Shahid Khattak, Zain Qureshi and others were present at the meeting.

After the meeting, the MNAs left for the Parliament House to attend the budget session.
