Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz senior leader and Prime Minister's advisor on political affairs Rana Sanaullah Khan has expressed strong reservations regarding the recent Supreme Court (SC) decision on the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) reserved seat case.

Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad on Friday, he said Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) petitions were rejected but the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was given that relief which was neither asked in the petition nor contest during the proceeding.

“The court decisions should be rooted in justice and visibly fair.”

Rana Sanaullah asserted that such rulings do not serve the country's interests and noted that unsolicited justice was dispensed in this instance. He further argued that decisions deviating from the original supplication are not beneficial for the nation.

The senior PML-N leader described the Supreme Court's decision as highly ambiguous and regrettable.

He criticized the allocation of seats to PTI despite people joining the Sunni Ittehad Council, pointing out that the court rejected the SIC's request.

Rana Sanaullah compared the Supreme Court's decision to rewriting the constitution.

On the other hand, Rana Sana Ullah vowed the government will respect the majority decision of the Supreme Court (SC) .

He stated that the government's legal team is currently reviewing the verdict and will determine the appropriate response, including the possibility of filing a review petition.
