Govt unveils special tax concessions on oxygen cylinders

The government has announced special tax concessions for those associated with the trade of oxygen cylinders and the related equipment for a period of 180 days keeping in view the ongoing third wave of the coronavirus pandemic in the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry, in a tweet on Friday, said the decision would take effect immediately.

Fawad informed that the federal cabinet had taken some important decisions in view of the need for oxygen during these times of pandemic.

The minister claimed that Pakistan had doubled the production of oxygen in the last one year. “As per the gas companies, the country is still producing 700 tonnes of oxygen daily,” he said, and added, “Of this total gas production, 60 percent is meant for consumption at hospitals while 40 percent at industrial units.”
