More than 70 people, including children, were killed in a massacre earlier this month in central-northern Burkina Faso, the West African country's state prosecutor said Monday.

Elderly people and children comprised the majority of victims in the November 5 killings, perpetrated by persons unknown, in the town of Zaongo, prosecutor Simon Gnanou said, referring to violence which the European Union condemned on Sunday.
