UHS introduces BDS Integrated Curriculum 2K25 from 2024-2025

After successful introduction of new MBBS syllabus in Punjab, University of Health Sciences (UHS) has developed new curriculum for BDS classes called BDS Integrated Curriculum 2K25, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Integrated Curriculum 2K25 will be effective in all dental colleges of Punjab from session 2024-25. UHS has informed the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council about the implementation of the new curriculum.

Under the new curriculum, the duration of BDS has been increased from 4 years to 5 years. After four years of education, an additional year will be reserved for development of clinical skills among the students.

The BDS syllabus has been modified keeping in view the international requirements. The new curriculum will benefit Pakistani graduates for employment opportunities worldwide. Dentistry programs of UK, US, Australia have been taken into consideration in preparing the new BDS syllabus. The curriculum content of the program is 4900 hours (four years) as per PMDC rules.

There will be additional 1100 hours (one year) for clinical training. The help of faculty and students of the affiliated dental colleges of the province was taken in the preparation of the syllabus. UHS in a letter has urged PMDC to support it for the implementation of new curriculum.
