Privatisation portfolio withdrawn from Dr Shamshad Akhtar

Caretaker Prime Minister (PM) Anwaarul Haq Kakar has decided to strip Finance Minister Dr Shamshad Akhtar of the portfolio of privatization, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

Sources told 24news TV channel that the prime minister had also decided to remove Shamshad from the position of head of Cabinet Committee on Inter-governmental Commercial Transactions.

Now the minister for privatization will be the chairman of the cabinet committee, they said, adding that Fawad Hassan Fawad, who was due to join the cabinet in a few days time, would likely be awarded the portfolio of privatization.   

In this connection, they said, the federal cabinet had approved the restructuring of the cabinet committee, sources added.
