Sources have clarified that no political matters were discussed during a recent meeting between PTI leaders and the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Thursday.
The conversation between Barrister Gohar Alik Khan and Ali Amin Gandapur focused solely on security and counter-terrorism issues in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Attempts by Barrister Gohar to introduce political topics were redirected, with sources indicating he was advised to discuss such matters with politicians.
The discussion, initially focused on regional security, has been misrepresented and politicized, which sources described as unfortunate.
In a startling disclosure, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said that he and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur had met with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir in Peshawar recently, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Talking to newsmen in the courtroom at Adiala Jail, Barrister Gohar said “If talks have begun, it’s a welcoming gesture.”
The PTI chairman said they placed all their demands in front of the Army Chief. “Direct talks with the establishment are welcome. There is a positive development from the other side.”
Before Gohar, Ali Amin Gandapur also confirmed Barrister Gohar’s meeting with the Army Chief.
Talking to newsmen, the KP CM confirmed “backdoor and official contacts” with the establishment. “The prevailing situation was focused during such talks,” he added.
“During these contacts, I kept on conveying PTI and party founder Imran Khan’s stance,” he further said.
