Defence Minister Pervez Khattak wasted no time on Wednesday to respond to ally Moonis Elahi’s statement seeking explanation regarding his (Khattak’s) earlier statement that the PML-Q cannot be elected Punjab chief minister, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Pervez Khattak in an earlier statement was reported as telling Moonis Elahi that the ruling PTI could not elect him chief minister as his party (PML-Q) has only five seats.

In response, Federal Minister for Water Resources and Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) leader Moonis Elahi sought an explanation from Defence Minister Pervez Khattak over his statement terming Q-League’s demand of Punjab chief ministership “blackmailing”.

Moonis — who had earlier publicly criticized Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed for his remarks against Q-League — now turned his focus to Pervez Khattak.

In a tweet uploaded on Wednesday, Moonis shared a video clip of a news article quoting Pervaiz Khattak telling Moonis Elahi that PTI could not elect him a chief minister as his party only has five seats in the assembly.

Moonis Elahi said that Pervez Khattak should himself give an explanation about his statement.

Pervez Khattak was quick to issue an explanation about his statement, saying, “I have not issued any such statement in the media against PML-Q or Pervaiz Elahi. I'm in contact with all our allies on a daily basis.”

The defence minister said PML-Q was PTI’s government’s ally. “It’s standing with PTI and will remain so,” he added.

Moonis Elahi thanked Pervaiz Kahttak on his prompt explanation.

On Tuesday, Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Parvez Elahi said that the Prime Minister was 100 per cent in trouble.
