The federal government raised its objection to the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) set up by Punjab to probe the Wazirabad incident.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the federal interior ministry has written a letter to the Punjab government over the issue of competency of the JIT.
In the letter, the federal government has also demanded the Punjab government to form a new JIT in which representatives of ISI and IB should also be included.
The letter said police officers of good repute should also be included in the JIT as it has not included investigative and intelligence agencies in the JIT comprising five members.
It is mentioned in the letter that people have no trust in the JIT's Convenor CCPO Lahore Ghulam Mehmood Dogar and he is involved in various controversies.
The letter said that the CCPO Lahore is provisionally reinstated by the Federal Service Tribunal on his post in Punjab province.
The federal government also said in the letter that the JIT set up by the Punjab government is not competent to conduct a transparent investigation of such an important case.
