Deputy Commissioner (DC) Lahore on Sunday issued a no objection certificate (NOC) to the PML-N to hold a public gathering at Greater Iqbal Park (Minar-e-Pakistan) on former prime minister and the party supremo Nawaz Sharif’s homecoming on October 21, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Later PML-N Lahore President Saiful Malook Khokhar and General Secretary Khawaja Imran Nazir visited the venue and reviewed the arrangements being made for the event.
Over 10 containers and heavy machinery have so far been transported to Minar-e-Pakistan for the rally.
The PML-N is pinning hopes on Nawaz Sharif, who is scheduled to return to Pakistan on October 21, after staying in the UK for years rather than for a stipulated time period as had been guaranteed by former prime minister and his younger brother Shehbaz Sharif at the time of his departure for London for the purpose of treatment.
The party claims that a large number of people will reach Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport to welcome the former prime minister despite the fact that mood in the country is of pessimism due to inflation and unemployment.
