A Lahore family court on Monday put off hearing in Singer Sanam Marvi khula case till a reply by her husband.
The singer turned up in the court and recorded her testimony.
She told the judge that her husband had become abusive.
“Hamid Ali would beat me and curse me.”
In the statement, the singer claimed that her husband's demeanour changed once they were married and that she had to put up with “his abuse” for the sake of her children.
"It is no longer possible for me to leave with my husband anymore," she said, requesting the court to issue her a decree for khula.
The court, however, put off further hearing in the case until record statement by her husband.
It is to mention here that the folk singer had married Hamid Ali in 2009 after her former husband Aftab Ahmed was killed in Karachi the same year.
The couple has three children from the wedlock.
