According to some revelations made by Amrit Rao, Lata was an immensely mean lady who in her attempt to acquire unmatchable fame ended up destroying the careers of many skilled singers.

Some of these musicians are: Geeta Dutt, Mubarak Begum, Suman Kalyanpur, Sharda, Sudha Malhotra, Kanchan, Vani Jayaram and Sulakshna Pandit.

Therefore, Amrit believes that when the masses are provided with such limited choices, they have to stick to the only good option that is available.

Furthermore, Lata didn’t like when people associated with her in terms of her career chose other musicians to work with. In response to their ‘audacity’, Lata would end up boycotting them.

Let’s for instance talk about celebrated Indian playback singer, Mohammad Rafi: Lata didn’t appreciate at all when he sang with other musicians instead of the lady herself and sister Asha Bhosle. Amrit thinks Rafi was a perfect gentleman and refused to destroy the careers of other proficient music stars. This caused Lata to be severely provoked.

Here’s all you need to know regarding Rafi and Lata’s controversy: According to sources: "At the beginning of 1960, there came a phase when Lata Mangeshkar fell out with Mohammed Rafi and stopped singing duets with him. They did not work together for two-three years. Lata sang with Mahendra Kapoor and Suman Kalyanpur sang with Rafi during this period.”

"Their differences arose over the issue of royalty payments on the songs sung by them. Lata wanted to be paid royalty and raised the issue with the producers; she expected Rafi to support her point of view.”

Shedding light on Lata Mangeshkar’s personal life, she was quite fond of Indian playback musician Bhupen Hazarika. Obsessed and intrigued so much by his personality that she ended up not allowing his wife to enter her own bedroom.

It is rather true that Lata Mangheskar managed to cause a spellbinding effect on music lovers all around the world due to her impressive singing capabilities and the lady passing away has made everyone quite upset however it is always wise to navigate all sides of a situation.
