FBR freezes bank accounts of Evacuee Trust Property Board

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has frozen the accounts of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) in three different banks for its failure to pay Rs142.7 million withholding tax in the year 2019, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
According to details, the amount was recovered after the bank accounts were frozen by the FBR Corporate Tax Office team, who worked under the supervision of Sadia Sadaf Gilani, Chief Commissioner of the Corporate Tax Office.
Additionally, the accounts of the Board were frozen under the chairmanship of Commissioner Enforcement II Naeem Babar.
The recovery team was consisted of Additional Commissioner Atif Bashir, Deputy Commissioner Yasir Mansoor Butt, Inspector Syed Waqas Ahmed, and Inspector Sardar Ahmed.
It is pertinent to note here that the Board was required to pay back withholding tax with arrears.
