Gilgit Baltistan CM files petition against procedure and appointment of judges

Gilgit Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid Thursday filed a petition against the appointment of judges in the judiciary challenging the procedure of appointment in the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to the details, the Apex Court issued a written order for the October 26 chamber hearing and overruled the Registrar office’s objections.

The written order stated that after eliminating the objections, the application should be set in the open court for hearing and the objections of the Registrar's Office cannot be sustained in the eyes of law. The petition deals with the fundamental rights issue, thus the points raised by the petitioner should be heard in the open court.

Justice Muneeb Akhtar held the in-chamber hearing on October 26, 2022.
