Fazl says not interested in sitting in 'dummy' assembly

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) President Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on Saturday his party was not interested in sitting in the “dummy” assembly. 

In his address in Charsadda, Fazl said people vote for someone but someone else it elected. He said that he has explained to the powers that be that Sheikh Hasina too won the election through rigging. He said the he wants peace in Pakistan and the powers that be should accept his demands amicably. 

The JUI chief said that Pakistan was achieved in the name of Islam, but now some people were making fun of Islam in Pakistan. He said that rulers and politicians did injustice to Islam in Pakistan. He said that only religious scholars remained loyal to Pakistan. He said that nobody got Pakistan in inheritance therefore landlords, industrialists, bureaucrats and ordinary Pakistanis are all equal. 

Fazl says that conspiracies are being hatched against the religious schools in Pakistan internationally. He said the international establishment wants to undo the chain of religious schools in Pakistan, but these religious schools are growing even stronger due these conspiracies. 

Referring to the 26th Constitutional Amendment, Fazl said had the parliament passed the original draft prepared by the government, it would have been destructive. He said the draft prepared by the government was huge threat to the parliament and human rights in Pakistan. He said that interest is prevalent in Pakistan and every institution and bank is thriving on the interest-based system. 

Commenting on the prevailing situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Fazl said the government was seen no where in the province and their was no enforcement of law. He said that a country cannot run without a strong government. He said that people cannot be fooled with economic indicators. He said the government should explain to people what really brought about an economic turnaround in the country, as claimed by the rulers.
