Renowned ambassador of the Kashmir Freedom Movement and Secretary General of the World Kashmir Awareness Forum in Washington, Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai has said economically strong Pakistan can play a role at the international level in solving the Kashmir dispute.

There is a need for a strong Pakistan in terms of its economy and politics as economically and politically weak Pakistan could not play a role at the international level, he said while addressing a roundtable titled ‘Current Situation of Kashmir and Future Strategy’ arraigned by Institute of Peace and Development INSPAD.

He added at present, only economically strong and technologically advanced states can play a decisive role on diplomatic fronts.

The conference was held under the chairmanship of Poonch Commissioner Sardar Waheed Khan and it was participated by former judges, bureaucrats, professors, representatives of civil society, journalists and people from other walks of life.

At the onset of the conference, the president of the organization informed the participants of the motive of holding the roundtable and updated them about the freedom movement in Kashmir. He also shed light on the role of Dr Fai and his organization for the Kashmir cause.

Dr Fai said the region where this conference is being held has a lot of sacrifices and in future people are eying this region for presenting sacrifices. In the current situation, he said we have to use wisdom to take this movement forward and gain the support of the world.

In the second session, the participants shared their suggestions. The commissioner Poonch Division thanked the guests. INSPAD gave peace awards to several individuals.
